Good to know

Mobile network
Limited in many parts of the trek (Adventure Club Pune). Tell someone your plan before you leave Dehene.
Last ATM
Not confirmed; Shahapur is the nearest town. Carry cash.
Nearest hospital
Not confirmed; Shahapur for first care, Thane or Mumbai for serious cases.
Water
Streams run through the valley in the monsoon, but operators ask you to carry 2–3 litres; treat any stream water. There are no toilets on the trail, only at the base village.

Highlights

  • A quiet, non-commercial monsoon walk through dense forest below the Sahyadri wall, away from the crowds of better-known waterfall treks
  • Several stream and river crossings, with small waterfalls and natural pools along the way
  • Karoli Ghat waterfall in full flow during the monsoon
  • Fog over the lower jungle in June, July and August, and views of the Western Ghats from the viewpoint

Risks

  • Stream and river crossings can rise fast in heavy rain; do not cross a flooded stream, and turn back if the water is above knee height.
  • Wet rock, mud and moss make the monsoon trail slippery; trekking shoes with good grip are mandatory with every operator.
  • In the monsoon the Thane Collector can ban entry to forts, waterfalls and water bodies (an order of 6 July 2026 closed tourist spots in the district until further notice); check the current order before you go.
  • The Sandhan Valley canyon higher up the same valley is closed in the monsoon and needs ropes; do not go up into the gorge from this trail.
  • Mobile signal is weak in much of the valley, and there is no food on the trail.
