Starts high at Jalori Pass, so the climb to Lambri Top is only about 500 m, but there are long ridge days above 3,000 m and a descent of about 1,650 m to Bihar village on the last day. Himalayan Ecotourism rates it moderate to strenuous.

₹8,000–12,000

Per person, ex-Aut/Jibhi. Only one current guided price was found: Treks and Trails India lists its 6-day Lambari trek (Sajwar route) at ₹8,000 ex-Aut; Himalayan Ecotourism runs the Jalori–Lambri–Bihar route but publishes no price. The upper figure is an estimate for small private groups. Self-guided is an estimate: jeep to Jalori Pass (Lonely Planet quotes ₹2,000 for a Jibhi–Jalori taxi round trip), a local guide who knows the ridge, tent and food for three nights.

Good to know

Mobile network
Patchy at Jalori Pass; expect little or no signal on the ridge (not confirmed by a source).
Last ATM
Banjar (Jibhi has none reliably; carry cash from Banjar or Aut)
Nearest hospital
Community Health Centre, Banjar for first care; Regional Hospital Kullu for serious cases
Water
Water at Serolsar Lake and near the shepherds' huts; Treks and Trails India warns there is no water on the long climb from Serolsar towards Lakkad Nala, so carry enough. Boil or treat all water.

Highlights

  • Panorama from Lambri Top of the Dhauladhar, the Pir Panjal (Hanuman Tibba, Deo Tibba, Indrasan), the whole Great Himalayan National Park and the Kinnaur ranges
  • Serolsar Lake and the temple of Budhi Nagin Mata on the first day, through oak forest from Jalori Pass
  • Lambri Top and Skirn are sacred to the people of the Kullu valley; trekkers remove their shoes before the top, and Skirn has a wooden temple with a priest in the snow-free season
  • Ridge walk above 3,000 m on high pastures with Western Tragopan habitat in the forests below
  • Option to visit the old tower of Chehni Kothi on the descent to Bihar

Risks

  • The road over Jalori Pass is normally closed by snow from about mid-December to early March (Lonely Planet), so the trailhead cannot be reached by vehicle in winter; Himalayan Ecotourism advises avoiding January–March and August.
  • Long dry stretch on the ridge between Serolsar and the upper camps; carry enough water.
  • Snow patches can linger on the upper ridge in spring; the slopes to Lambri are steep in places.
  • Monsoon (July–September) brings rain, leeches in the forest and landslides on NH 305 near Jalori.
  • Remote ridge with no road access between Jalori and Bihar; go with a local guide who knows the route.

Questions

Where does the Lambari (Lambri) Top trek start?

Most itineraries start at Jalori Pass (about 3,130 m) on NH 305 above Jibhi and walk past Serolsar Lake onto the ridge, which saves the long climb from the valley. Other routes start lower, from Sajwar in the Tirthan side (Treks and Trails India) or from Sarchi village above Banjar via Jamala village (TravelTriangle).

How high is Lambri Top?

Himalayan Ecotourism and Lonely Planet give about 3,600 m, and OpenStreetMap marks the peak at 3,594 m. One operator quotes 10,826 ft (about 3,300 m), which is lower than the terrain data shows.

How many days does the trek take?

From Jalori Pass it is a 3 to 5 day trek; Himalayan Ecotourism's itinerary takes 4 days (Jalori – Serolsar – shepherds' hut – Lambri, Skirn and Chanan Thach – Bihar). Lonely Planet says two or three days there and back from Serolsar Lake. The Sajwar route from Aut is sold as 6 days including transfers.

Is Lambri inside the Great Himalayan National Park? Do I need a park permit?

No. Himalayan Ecotourism says Lambri is not in the GHNP (it gives the best view of the park). No official source on permits for this ridge was found; check with the forest office or your operator in Banjar before going.

When is the best time for the Lambri trek?

Himalayan Ecotourism lists April, May, June, October and November as best, with July, September and December possible, and January to March and August to be avoided.
