Know before you go

Good to know

Mobile network
Weak; Adventure Club Pune advises downloading offline maps before reaching the base village.
Last ATM
Murud town; carry cash for village meals, guides and forest charges.
Nearest hospital
Murud for first care; Alibag or Mumbai for serious cases.
Water
Streams run along the trail in the monsoon, but carry 2-3 litres as operators advise and treat any stream water.

Highlights

  • A monsoon waterfall that drops into a chain of churning pools, which operators call the 'Jacuzzi Waterfall'
  • A quiet jungle walk in the Murud hills of Raigad, away from the crowded Lonavala and Karjat waterfalls
  • Lush green Sahyadri foothills close to the Konkan coast
  • An easy one-day outing from Mumbai or Pune, usually run as an overnight bus trip

Risks

  • Wet rocks, stream crossings and sudden rises in water flow are the main dangers; operators make good-grip shoes mandatory and allow entry into the water only when the trek leader says it is safe.
  • Do not jump into deep water or stand under strong flow; operators ban this.
  • Access to the falls depends on water levels and Forest Department permission, and may be limited to a viewpoint on some days.
  • Raigad district issues monsoon prohibitory orders (Section 163, BNSS) for several waterfalls each year. No 2025 or 2026 order naming Savatkada was found, but check with Murud police or the Forest Department before you go.
  • Mobile signal is weak on the trail; go with a group or a local guide.
  • Leeches and insects are common after rain; wear full sleeves and long trousers.

Questions

Where is Savatkada (Jacuzzi) Waterfall?

It is in Murud taluka of Raigad district, Maharashtra. Adventure Club Pune uses Mahalor as the base village; Treks and Trails India places it near Murud. Do not confuse it with the roadside Savatkada waterfall at Oni in Rajapur taluka, Ratnagiri.

How long is the Savatkada Waterfall trek?

About 6 km of jungle walking in total. Groups start around 7 am and reach the falls by about 8:30-9 am, then walk back to the village by early afternoon.

Is the Savatkada trek difficult?

Operators rate it easy to moderate. The walk is short, but rocks are slippery and there are stream crossings, so good-grip shoes are a must.

Can you bathe in the Savatkada pools?

Only when the water is calm and the trek leader says it is safe. Operators forbid jumping into deep water and standing under strong flow, and access may be limited to a viewpoint when the water is high.

What does a guided Savatkada trip cost?

In 2026, Treks and Trails India listed ₹999 from Mumbai and Adventure Club Pune listed ₹1,299 self-drive or ₹1,999 with transport from Pune or Mumbai, including meals and forest fees.
